New Art: "Charming, Prints Charming!"  Wee Charms, 2" Miniature Watercolors

Miniatures, miniatures, miniatures!!!!!!!!!!!  I do adore miniatures. There's something about tiny little bits made to look like real life objects. In my adoration of miniatures, I stumbled across some unlikely canvases.  2" squares. Now, these were not ready to paint on. I prepared them with some really neat stuff by Daniel Smith called watercolor ground.

Stephanie Pui-Mun Law has some great books on watercolor techniques and she also wrote an inspiring blog post about the ways she uses watercolor ground. I've admired Stephanie's work for many years now. And my appreciation and interest have been further piqued by the books she wrote. Plus, I just love her Shadowscapes Tarot Deck. All her pieces have so much depth. Her style is so different than mine and I love the surprise faces or animals I find in every piece she creates. It's like "Where's Waldo" only better!

As I am a reader, empath, healer, and intuitive, I am now aligning my art and my spiritual work.  I'm creating images that are near and dear to my heart. Many of these speak to me of times past, wonder, curiosity, magic and something mystical.  While these pieces are not quite finished, I keep seeing them as a single image placed upon an altar to use as a tool for remembrance, honoring, or meditation while you connect with The Divine through prayer.

I love embossed post cards from the turn of century that feature lucky symbols. Luck is what you make it and I'm always lucky. As my Dad says, "Every day's my lucky day!"

I love aligning with the phases of the moon. I've participated in several full moon art challenges.  I work with the ebb and flow of the tides and moon.  When the moon transitions from full to empty (waning), it's time to give: release things, let go, give away.  When the moon transitions from empty to full (waxing), it's time to receive: fill back up again, build, expand, grow. Being aware of the moon's phase has helped me better understand why it seems there are times when I'm flowing or when I'm swimming upstream. And once I realize one way or the other, I can more easily let go and "roll with it baby!"

I've been drawing hearts with wings for years and years. It's a symbol that I just adore.  And flowers, well, flowers are just part of who I am. I love to photograph them, gaze at them, identify them, plant them, appreciate them.

The 4 directions are used in sacred ceremony from tribes and ancient peoples of all kinds. The directions align the wheel of life and phases that run in a circle: Seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter),  Elements (earth, air, fire, water), Phases of life (child, maiden, mother, crone).  Remembering the cycles, honoring them is a way to honor your life and the life in all. Everyone of us has the opportunity to pass through these phases. Though, some souls do not, and it is our fortune to live and reach that stage.

Egypt. Ah Egypt. Ancient Egypt. The magical times. Kings, Cleopatra, pyramids, the sacred lotus. My soul holds a deep connection to ancient Egypt. There's so much to say, I don't know where to start. Just know that I will continue to bring you little bits of the Ancient Egyptians through my art, readings, and Misty Valley.
