Wardrobe Architect: (Wk 9) Filling the Gaps for Fall/Winter/Spring in My Capsule Wardrobe

10/17/2014

Comments

For week 9 of the Wardrobe Architect, we are to create a Capsule Wardrobe.  I think I got a bit ahead during week 4, and created my capsule wardrobe then.
  • (Wk 4, part 1 of 2) Outdoor Activities Silhouettes by Season
  • (Wk 4, Part 2 of 2) Work2Play Silhouettes by Season

In an effort to not repeat the same work, I thought visually defining the gaps in my wardrobe would be a worth while exercise.  I may be getting ahead of a future week, but I'm ok with that.

Hopefully this gets you thinking about where you have gaps.  If you do, you may want to spend a little time with Polyvore, creating a set of what items you'd like to buy vs. make.  Nearly every item on this list I plan to sew as I already have fabric for more than 1/2 of these items.

When would I buy vs. make?
I happen upon it (passive) and it fits my .... body + budget + colors + philosophies.
Gaps to Fill for Fall/Winter/Spring Wardrobe

I already have a fleece cut out and ready to sew which I made from my moulage with a little more ease than my fitted T-shirt.   Sketches of my design & final fleece will be posted as soon as I finish the darn thing.

The leggings and bras will likely be second. I'm already on the path to working them out and have fabric set aside.  Leggings are super easy at this point. Though I do have a wardrobe malfunction I'll be sharing related to leggings.  Bras I'm nearly there on getting them to fit. Plus I'm taking Beverly Johnson's Bra Class on Craftsy and I'll be taking another bra making class next month.

The swimsuit will likely come next. I'm really excited to make these. It will likely be some combo of the suits shown. Those are what inspire me.

The rest will come as my furious sculpting and painting schedule allow me to step away.  I'm creating for an artist sale I will be in the weekend before American Thanksgiving. To give you a taste, here are 3 Ganesh's and a frog I've sculpted to sell.

I leave you with this blessing channeled from Ganesh, the Remover of Obstacles:

"May you fully know your power to create. Destroy and create. Both are necessary. Both are sacred. As you use them in your art, your sewing, your endeavours call upon me to help you break through any barriers holding you back. You are fully capable of shinging, nay glowing bright enough for love to find you and return fully to your soul.  May you remember you are deeply blessed and loved on the other side. We watch over you always."  -- Lord Ganesha
